COURSE OVERVIEW :

Nitrox is when they change the regular tank of air you breath when diving and add in more oxygen to it. When you are diving with Nitrox, you are breathing enriched air (with extra Oxygen in it). Nitrox, or Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx), is simply the term used for nitrogen mixed with an oxygen percentage that is increased above “standard” air. With standard scuba cylinders, the percentage of oxygen is about 20.8%, which is very close to what we breathe in everyday life on the surface.

Why would you need to dive with Nitrox? Diving with enriched air nitrox lets you safely extend your no stop time beyond the no decompression limits for air. Diving with enriched air nitrox means more no decompression time underwater – but you need to be certified as a PADI Enriched Air Diver to use and get enriched air fills. Whether you’re into underwater photography or wreck diving, on vacation in some tropical paradise or just out for a leisurely day of diving at your local dive site, the PADI Enriched Air Diver course helps you get more out of diving by giving you more no decompression time underwater

What you’ll learn

The PADI Enriched Air Diver Specialty course does not required in-water training. The course has two sections, theory and a practical session which will be held in our classroom or while our on the boat during a daily dive day.

  • Techniques for getting more dive time by using enriched air nitrox
  • Enriched air scuba diving equipment considerations
  • Enriched air considerations, including managing oxygen exposure, how to tell what’s in your scuba tank
  • Practice analysing oxygen content in your scuba tank
  • How to set and use your dive computer when diving with Nitrox
