COURSE OVERVIEW :
First aid and CPR are important skills for anyone involved in adventure sports as you never know when you might need them. Emergency First Response is a PADI affiliate course that specialises in teaching vital lifesaving skills.
The one-day Emergency First Response course gives you the confidence to respond to medical emergencies - not just in the diving world, but in everyday life with your family, friends, neighbours and co-workers.
The EFR course meets the CPR and first aid training requirements for the PADI Rescue Diver course.
We also recommend that you consider taking the PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider course in conjunction with the EFR course.
The course could take place in the class room at our dive centre or on the dive boat during a daily dive session. Your PADI instructor will advise you accordingly.
What you’ll learn
Primary Care (CPR) – This teaches you the steps and techniques for handling life-threatening emergencies. You’ll practice skills for aiding patients who aren’t breathing, have no heartbeat, may have a spinal injury, may be in shock or who may have serious bleeding. You’ll learn how to perform CPR and continue to monitor the patient, so that you provide every possible chance of survival while waiting for emergency medical services to arrive.
Secondary Care (First Aid) – Because many medical conditions are not life-threatening and emergency medical services are sometimes delayed or unavailable, this section teaches you how to provide first aid that eases pain and reduces the risk of further harm. You’ll learn to assess a variety of injuries and illnesses and practice bandaging and splinting through knowledge and skill development with realistic scenario practice.
Continue The Adventure...
If you’re taking your EFR there is a good change that you are taking the steps to becoming a PADI Rescue Diver. Becoming a PADI Rescue Diver is one of the more challenging yet rewarding courses you’ll take. Once qualified you will be equipped to deal with situations as and when they occur while out diving.
